Yes, I fully understand why they want to know Nationality (either by
birth or naturalisation) because that affects your right to vote.
It's the equating/conflating with holding a passport that I disagree
with.
Many people living here don't have passports, both Brits and Foreigners.
Although the foreigners living here without passports (perhaps they've
expired, or they came here on their parent's passport and the parents
are long gone), may be in a documentation vacuum when Tony insists they
all get an ID card soon.
