http://www.itsmypost.com/HowItWorks.aspx says that
"Mailing Preference Service (MPS) - This links you directly to the DMA (UK)
website so you can register on the MPS file. This is widely used by DMA
members and other companies. It will not stop mail from companies that you
have dealt with in the past, it will only stop mail from companies that you
have not had contact with before."
So as I understand it the MPS is suitable for where people have not already
received post from you.
Otherwise they can just write to you just saying please don't send them your
mailings.
According to
http://www.precisionmarketing.co.uk/Articles/251980/Consumer+preference+site+launches.html
this is run by people in the Direct Marketing Industry so I would have
thought you should speak to them regarding the burdens (as you see it) that
it is placing on you.
