I have someone I correspond with regularly on business matters. We are also
good friends and digress. We unashamedly "Futz" (A Gartner term meaning do
things that are not employment based) from time to time, in a manner similar
to a long distance water cooler conversation.
Sometimes our emails contain words that their content filter picks up and
rejects. Oddly these are not the blacklist words one might expect. Several
words, used often enough in the text, cause the emails to be quarantined.
This happens frequently.
This means that my personal data is logged on their employer's system as a
persistent "quarantine offender". I'm willing to bet that this is recorded
in some database within their email system. I have not been informed of
this - I am assuming.
I have not given permission for my details to be stored in this manner.
The question is, "Does this break any part of the DPA?"
I absolutely do not consent to this processing.
