This is why I think we need to consider that an e-mail address *might* be
personal data. Anyone with a bit of nouse can reasonably quickly find a lot
of information about me, simply starting with my e-mail address. However I
have a hotmail account that I use that could not possibly be traced back to
me (except I suppose by the Police or security service if they really wanted
to), this e-mail address would not be personal information.
Therefore to say that email addresses are or are not personal data is
erroneous. It is more accurate to say that some email addresses may be
personal data.
