I can understand how you can take this view, but we as academic
researchers will
still argue that it is a narrow one. In fact the first role play refers to
knowledge that has been codified (documented) and hence is in essence a data
record. Also beliefs of intellectual property directly translate to how people
view their organisations' ownership of their work. This will directly
translate
to how people transfer their knowledge, information, 'data records' (whatever
terminology you choose to call it) in the workplace. This is in essence
what we
are researching.
I believe that this is a very topical issue in the workplace particularly
affecting records managers and warrants scientific investigation. The feedback
we have received so far confirms this.
As with all studies, we don't expect everyone on the list to agree with our
views, hypothesis, the benefits of the study or appreciate the prize. But we
believe that our research will lead to a better understanding of the issues
surrounding the transfer and exchange of infomation / knowledge (or data
records in your terminology).
