Couldn't agree with you more. If a member of staff is already at the stage of submitting a SAR, what sort of message are you sending out by asking for £10 from them? So, for us it's FOC for staff across the board. We ask for a £10 cheque from external SARs (mainly to put off time-wasters) which we then return because the admin time req'd to bank the cheque actually costs more than £10.

Subject: [data-protection] £10 fee for SAR
Dear All
Am trying to convince People Development (HR as was!) that charging our current employees the £10 fee for SAR is counter-productive. They want to benchmark against practice in other organisations before reviewing policy.
Would be interested in knowing whether you charge (a) the public at large and (b) your own employees. Also intereested to know if you charge a fee that is less than the £10 maximum.
Kind regards, Kirsty.
