You might be interested to know that we calculated that the average cost of banking a £10 DPA fee cheque (in terms of admin time, financial/auditing processes etc.) was over £18.00..... So even if you could charge (which I don't think you can) it's more likely to cost you money than make you any...... We always ask for the £10 cheque, but then return it along with our response "as a gesture of good will"; and the feedback we've had indicates that that little bit of good will goes a very, very long way (and saves us time and money too)

I am aware that Section 7(2) of DPA allows us to charge a £10 fee for a Section 7(1)_ request. Does anyone know of any restriction which says we cannot make a similar charge for requests made under sections 29 (Police CSA etc) and 35 (when it is not a court order)?
