I recently watched a fly-on-the-wall/reality programme on BBC where a business consultant, if you like, was called in by an owner of a small chain of hairdressers in the North East.
She was particularly concerned about the way one of her branches was being run. In particular, that the staff weren't following her code in respect of how they treated customers, and also use of mobile phones at work.
The main tool of the consultant was to put in place a number of TV cameras and then just to watch how the staff behaved.
He later played these back to the owner and subsequently showed them to the staff.
The programme showed most of the (young) members of staff in a very poor light and it is difficult to imagine that they could have given the BBC permission to show them on TV.
I was very surprised that the programme was shown as it seemed invasive in the extreme.
It really seemed to break every rule in the book.
(At least with the lie-detector test on Trisha they know that is what they are going to be asked!)
