I have recently been involved in buying a property (a flat). As part of the
search I was sent the paper details of the company that has been set up to
manage the property.
This includes the forms completed by each Director with personal details
(including occupation, nationality) - the only optional detail was the phone
number (the person is warned that it will be on the public record) which is
no doubt so that Companies House was able to contact the individual - this
could have been on a separate part of the form which is not on the public
record.
I was therefore able to phone one of the Directors with a query that I had
about the property's management.
(I met an old school acquaintance a few weeks ago and I looked him up on
Google as he is a solicitor. The only reference I found to him was a
planning application that he had made to his local council.)

We annotate application forms before they are scanned into the system so
that telephone numbers, email addresses and signatures cannot be seen on
the website. But names and addresses of applicants are part of the
public register and are therefore left on the published form. This is
also the case with objectors. However, we do put data protection
notices on the application form and on our website to indicate this.

What are people doing about securing planning information published on
web sites where the application may be uploaded which could include name
address, signature etc?
