I thought the list might be interested in this from the Records
Management list.
There are going to be Principle 7 issues (amongst many others) related
to accidental loss, informing clients etc.
What do you do in a situation when vast amounts of sensitive client data
have been destroyed forever?
Compensation?

Since Tower Hamlets have apparently lost 6,000 odd boxes in this little
conflagration, of which roughly 10% of which may be legal files and 10%
may
be Social Services files (we won't know for sure until next week when
they
can audit what's been lost), I think it's probably fair to say that
Tower
Hamlets are a little more concerned than they appear to be, yes. We're
trying to assess the impact on business continuity as we speak.
Additionally, I keep wondering when 'Oh, by the way, we've had a
flippin'
enormous fire and lost 1.8m boxes of records, just thought we'd mention
it'
might appear on http://www.ironmountain.co.uk/uk/news_events/index.asp.
I'd
have thought that was quite newsworthy myself.
Cheers,
Fraser

Good to know that Iron Mountain Company "do not expect that
this event will be material to our consolidated results of operations
or financial condition" I wonder if those companies who have lost their
records are feeling so sanguine
