If the SAR is from a student, we can compare the photo ID to the photo
on the Student Information System to see if they look like the same
person. Staff members normally bring their SARS in person, so I just
check to make sure the photo on the staff ID looks like the person
standing in front of me.

What do you (or anyone else who requests this) do with this photo ID
when you get it? Do you have something to compare it to? Do you store it
for future use? Do you just discard it without actually doing anything
with it?
These are serious questions. I'm struggling to understand why people
request photo ID.
I can understand it where someone is requesting something like CCTV
footage (although there I'd want to provide something better than the
photo from my Driving Licence or Passport!), but not for most 'standard'
SARs.
