Hello,
Is there any medical reason why the student is not on medication? If not
the student really should consider this I have colleges and friends whose
lives have been transformed by appropriate balanced medication. Most
epileptics I know dread the hospital run, they get heavily sedated and
feel aweful for days and they would prefer it if people did not call for an
ambulance but just made sure they were safe i.e not in a postion to injure
themselves and be put in the Coma position and let them sleep it off. It
sounds like the students parents are doing this which is excellent.
Continual seizures can lead to long term problems and should be avoided
where ever possible. Unless the student cannot tolerate the medication or
there is another disability related reason for live-in 24 hour support, I
don't think you could justify this level of support.
I hope this helps.
