Just wanted to pick everyones brains regarding the above issues.
Liverpool Hope has produced its Race Equality Policy and Implementaion
Plan like other institutions will have done. There is a duty to carry
out impact assessments throughout the College similar to the duties that
will be part of the Disability Equality Scheme
These impact assessments are not an issue for the Support Service and
is a College wide issue. What I am asking is who and how are your
impact assessments carried out for the Race Relations (Amendment) Act
(RR(A)A)?
I am trying to investigate the issue of a new post but there is a
difference of opinion over what level this post should be at. One
suggestion would be for it to be a person similar to my level who was
responsible College wide for carrying out these assessments to ensure we
are legally compliant. i see it more as someone at senior management
level with a strategic role who woudl ensure the impact assessmenst are
carried out by the people who wriote the policies and procedures in the
first place. Would be grateful for any comments, even if your
institution is not yet thinking about the Disability Equality Scheme
they will already have the duty to carry out impact assessments beacuse
of the RR(A)A.
Thanks
