Colleagues, I am conducting some background research for a book I am writing on e-learning and accessibility and am interested to learn the extent to which those of us working in student support services are aware of and use online resources such as the TechDis Technology Database to help us "match" students needs to the right technologies (http://www.techdis.ac.uk/index.php?p=3_1).
I would be really interested to hear the reasons why people have or have not used this database (or others such as Abledata http://www.abledata.com/ and Closing the Gap http://www.closingthegap.com/)
I'm not so much interested in evaluating the databases as exploring how support staff deveop their practice and knowledge with regards to specialist technologies and conceptualise the boundaries of their expertise in this area.
Regards, Jane Seale
