That's an interesting question. Its not yet been tested here as we don't currently have any (declared) SpLD students on language programmes. We'd need to refine the marking guidelines after consulting language staff and taking advice from the BDA. I'd be interested to hear comments from those who do support language students.

How does that work on language courses?

Hi David
We issue students with a sheet of labels (standard L7163 Avery laser labels, 14 per A4 sheet), each of which shows their UCAS number and the signature of our Exams Officer. The student would then put a label on each exam script and when it goes for marking, they are marked on content and not presentation, and are not penalised for spelling and grammar errors. We tend to apply this as a blanket policy for all students with dyslexia.
Hope this helps.
Theresa

At DMU, we will be conducting a pilot in the autumn in two Faculties, using stickers to identify dyslexic students' exam papers.
If you use such a system, my questions are:
o What wording do you use?
o How do you ensure that only the right students' work has stickers applied?
o How big are the stickers and have you any tips about their design/manufacture?
o If you prefer a cover sheet to a sticker, why is that?
Many thanks for your time and any other relevant tips,
