Hi Louise,

In the DNS Preferred version I think the command you need is

(Change style) to heading 1

or

(Set style) to heading 1

As with styles generally, you do not need to select the paragraph. The cursor just needs to be in the paragraph (as defined by the paragraph marks which may be hidden) and that whole paragraph will be afffected by the change. Both the above commands work, but only for a limited number of styles - heading 1-3. For some strange reason when you say Change/set style to heading 4 - the euro symbol appears! (I guess this is useful to know if needed!!) Others may also work but I have only had a quick look at this and didn't have much success.

The alternative is to have the styles and formatting pane open (click Format > styles and formatting), select / highlight the text you want to style and then use the mouse grid feature to click on the appropriate style.

In DNS Professional, I am sure it would be possible to create a command to apply any style directly and quickly. You pay for what you get! Since the majority of people don't use styles(?) even though they are very helpful/powerful/time saving I guess scansoft haven't focussed on them. (This may have changed in DNS 8 - I am currently on a machine with V7 - but I will check and update you if it is different there.)

I hope this helps.

Best wishes,

>Does anyone know if it is possible to format text styles in MS Word using Dragon Naturally Speaking. In word the command would be 'Format Style' and then you would choose from a dropdown menu.
