Dear colleagues ( with apologies for cross posting)
Good news! We are pleased to let you know that the Disability Discrimination Bill was passed at lunchtime. It will receive Royal Assent tonight.
This Bill will introduce a positive duty on public authorities to promote disability equality and eliminate discrimination. It will also introduce important changes and extensions to the definition of disability. For more information see ECU updates www.ecu.ac.uk/publications/updates Update 01/05 and Update 02/05 and the ECU Briefing Paper available at www.ecu.ac.uk/publications/pamphlets
With good wishes
Chrissie Pepper and Liz Sutherland
