This one-day course offers Disability Advisers in Higher Education the opportunity to raise their awareness of the different aspects of visual impairment and the impact sight loss can have on completing a course of study. During the day you will also look at ways to develop strategies to support learners with a sight loss.
Aims
1. To gain a practical knowledge and insight into the impact sight loss can have on learners in a Higher Educational setting.
2. To look at practical ways to assist individual learners and access existing support mechanisms, which will aid students to successfully complete their course of study. Participants will be given the chance to develop an action plan and checklist to further develop this theme.
3. To access the technology available to support learners with sight problems and look at ways in which this can support the students learning.

The course will be of interest to all Disability Officers and Advisers in Higher Education who wish to increase their knowledge, awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding the support of learners with a sight loss.
