At the University of Tasmania, Australia, we are piloting case management
for students with complex needs. Many of the case managed students will
have psychiatric, neurological or multiple disabilities and need greater
support and assistance than most. To my knowledge this type of service,
specifically targeting this category of student, is virtually non-existent
in Australia and scant in New Zealand. I understand that in the UK there
maybe greater support for students with mental health disabilities as I am
aware that some universities have mental health advisers. I would be very
interested in hearing from any mental health advisers/coordinators or case
managers whose specific role is to work with tertiary education students
with mental health disabilities as I'd like to obtain more information
about roles and funding.
Thanks very much.
