Hi Paul
At Sheffield College we have had at total of 5,431 students who declared a disability this year. We try to provide a complete service, claiming for a very wide range of specialist support services, including those you list. The total claim to the LSC for providing this disability-specific support last year was in the region of £2m.
Regards, Vicki Jackson.

Hello All,
I was recently at a conference and during a chat with a fellow Disability Officer the subject of ALS funding came up. The DO said that they were very limited in the support they could offer due to financial restraints, when I asked about how much they claim for support such as the Ed Psych Report, double staffing of some classes etc the DO gave me a blank stare and said that the college did not claim for such expenses.
Can I just ask what is the experience of other F.E colleges? Do you provide extensive additional support in the knowledge that the LSC will reimburse them? Or do you find that there isn't funding for all the support you could potentially offer?
Thanks, Paul (Disability Officer, Richmond upon Thames College)
