Dear Colleague,
Register now for Vision 2005 London: 4-7 April 2005
Don't miss your chance to be part of the world's premier event on low vision and sight loss!
Vision 2005 London, the world's premier event on low vision and sight loss, is just weeks away. Join hundreds of professionals to share knowledge about every aspect of education, and low vision and sight loss.
"Education across the lifespan" will form a major part of the peer-reviewed conference. Educationalists will present on subjects ranging from assessing functional vision to developments in ways of reading for people with sight problems. Other themes include clinical care and integrating rehabilitation; visual function assessment and visual performance; advances in technology; employment; and world blindness.
Sessions of particular interest to educationalists include:
The issues and challenges of the regular and the expanded core curriculum
Managing transitions from school to further education and to employment
Using a natural environment for education
The quality of life for blind and partially sighted children, their siblings and parents
Integrated multi-agency low vision services
Integrated rehabilitation, mobility and orientation
Musical interests, abilities and development
Accessible arts
You will learn from colleagues overseas about outreach projects in Japanese schools for blind and partially sighted children; segregation and inclusive education in Ghana and Saudia Arabia; or closer to home, about Northern Ireland's young persons' forum. New technology also features with ideas on accessing online learning and using digital audio in education. And professional development in education looks at the training opportunities and career development for teaching assistants.
Top names in the field will present, including:
Naomi Dale on assessing social communication difficulties
Lea Hyvärinen looking at specific eye conditions and brain damage related vision loss
Graeme Douglas on the impact of non-medical eye clinic support services
Alistair Fielder with information on the "Charter for Families of Young People with Vision Impairments".
You can choose to register for all four days, or for just one day - find out more by visiting www.rnib.org.uk/vision2005 or call the organisers on +44 (0)20 7940 5362.
We look forward to welcoming you to Vision 2005 London.
