TomTom is pretty good. We have 3 in our family. Buy the self contained TomTom
GO rather than a PDA baased system - fewer wires. We have both types and the
Go is much easier to use.
However, they are not infallible. You do need to check that it is sending you
to the actual 'Preston' you wanted to go to. You can also get sent off in
completely the wrong direction on a route that makes no sense to someone that
knows the area.
And it will ruin your map reading skills once you start to use it a lot.
What is does help with is finding addresses within towns saving you from
trying to rerad an A to Z while driving in heavy traffic.
