Disability Awareness Training Package for Libraries from the Open Rose
Group: opening up access for disabled users of Academic Libraries in
Yorkshire.
A staff training package containing a DVD / video and supporting materials
produced by The Open Rose Group is now available to order.
The Package covers four disabilities each with a theme:
* Dyslexia - using the Library
* Hearing - communication
* Mobility - access
* Vision - assistive technology
The Open Rose Group are University Library staff from Bradford,
Huddersfield, Hull, Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan, Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam
and York. The project was part funded by the SCONUL Award for Staff
Development, which the group won in 2003.
Participants in the film are students from Open Rose Group member
institutions who each have one or more of these disabilities and who
volunteered to talk about their experiences of using their Library.
