Admitting Equality:
key developments in access for disabled students in higher education
Monday 5-Tuesday 6 December 2005
Cambridge Belfry Hotel
At this year's annual conference for staff in higher education, Skill will help you understand the forthcoming developments and changes in admissions to higher education and the Disability Equality Duty (DED).
The conference will cover current major issues in the admissions and progression of disabled students, including the likely impact of Post-Qualification Admissions (PQA), the DED, and university entrance tests. The possibility of a Post-Qualification Admissions process is currently being discussed in the sector as a way of smoothing admissions to higher education; the conference will discuss how universities might be best placed to put support in place in time for disabled students under a PQA system. In addition, entrance tests may have an impact on those who are able to progress to university and delegates will be able to find out more about how this might affect disabled students. Finally, universities will have to monitor the admission, retention, progression and achievement rates of disabled students under the new DED and the conference will explore and debate how universities might be best placed to do this.
The conference is aimed at all staff who plan and deliver services for disabled students - including senior managers, heads of student support services, and disability officers.
