A customer (A) held the door open for another customer (B) at our public
institution. A let go of the door and it hit B on the arm. Staff assisted
to B, and recorded the incident in an incident log book. Some time
passed. Then B wrote to our institution stating that they felt that there
had been ill intent on A's part, and requested the name and address details
of A. There are no criminal proceedings underway (not yet anyway). Do we
withhold or disclose the information to B? If B wants to sue for damages,
the they will ultimately need the details of A. But since there are no
proceedings on the horizon, disclosing A's details could be hazardous, if B
were to do something in revenge.
Does anyone have any advice?
Cheers
Graeme
