I have had a FOI(S)A request for access to correspondance between my
institution and an individual. I don't have any concerns about the content
of any of the letters being made public, but I did realise that I was not
100 percent sure of who owns the letters - the author or the recipient? If
I sent a letter to an institution, I would not necessarily expect it to
become publicly available. Is there an implied confidentiality when you
send a letter to an institution (that isn't sent for the purposes of
publication, in a newsletter for example)?
Advice gratefully received,
(I know that this is FOI, but there is a clear DP element too)
Cheers,
Graeme.
