I agree wholeheartedly with Tim's comment that there needs, surely, to be
a way of eliminating the incompetent and intrusive, and getting rid of
those from the marketplace. I would also say that this applies to all
sales/marketing communications, not just telephone calls.
Unfortunately it is not just "fly by night" companies which indulge in
those practices.
I have insurance policies with a major UK company. Yesterday I received a
letter inviting me to take out pet insurance for my dog or cat. I have
neither and the company has never enquired, when I have rung up to renew
policies, whether I have any pets. The communication was a complete waste -
for me, for the company and for the environment.
It is about time companies ceased wasteful speculative "marketing" like
this.
