I agree with your approach. We had various discussions about this
especially ICO's recommendation that we advise individuals they are on
such a list. Revs and bens staff felt they would receive even more
harrassment/assaults if they were told but on the other hand, they also
felt that if it was an individual who was not normally prone to such
violence then they should be informed. Also if it was verbal abuse they
would be informed that it was not acceptable behaviour and they would be
put on such a list and given a date when it would be reviewed.

Hi Rachael
We at Crewe & Nantwich do maintain a spreadsheet of potentially violent
people and our new Revenues and Benefits System has a facility to
identify them. To answer your specific questions, I'll take them in
turn.
1) We don't inform people who are put on the list on the basis that this
may cause another incident.
2) The list is reviewed annually and although reviewed, if the
individual has been actually violent then they would be very unlikely to
be removed.
3) We have Incident Report Forms that are completed by anyone
experiencing violent or threatening behaviour.
4) The list has been notified to the IC and is included in our register
entry.
5) The information is shared with staff in Revenues, Benefits, CTax,
Fraud, Non-Domestic Rates, Community Wardens, Building Control, Cash
Office and Wulvern Housing (Rent Recovery only).
Hope this helps.
