We have invited students with disabilities/dyslexia to a Welcome Day during the week before term starts, for the past two years. This has been well attended and we will carry on with the same format: we invite key members of staff, all known and continuing studs. w d/d and a deaf comedian for the lunchtime entertainment. There is a chance to register early and go on tours of the library and/or campus while it is still quiet. Feedback has been positive - particularly the chance to informally meet current students and each other. The invite follows returned questionnaires which are sent out to any student who ticks the disability box during the application process.
Sorry - rather rushed - hope it helps.

Subject: Induction for Disabled Students
The University is looking at the induction process for all new students.
Within this process I am examining how to address issues that are
specific to disabled students. This includes the consideration of
additional events, information given etc.
Do you have examples of what you do you would be willing to share with
me? Also, what works/doesn't work.
