Hi All,
We have a very similar system here. We generally loan equipment to
students who are in the process of going through their DSA application,
and to others in need, such as those who are not eligible for the DSA.
We have very similar items available for loan. We also have a study
support room where there are computers with textHELP, Inspiration,
Dragon and Supernova. Students need to register to use this room, which
means that it isn't always filled with people checking their emails.
Students can also have the SuperNova software 'assigned' to their user
name so that it automatically starts up when they log into a computer on
the network.
The majority of our loan equipment, especially the larger and more
expensive items such as laptops, are put on our library loan system, via
the same sort barcodes which are used in books. This means that these
items are subject to the same rules and penalties as books and journals.
We've not had any problems with the return of loan pool equipment so far.
There's probably more stuff available, but it's friday afternoon, and
this is all that came to mind immediately! Hope it's useful anyway.
