DSA Payments are still approved by LEAs. You therefore need to have the
discussion with the student's LEA about how dyslexia tutors are paid.
All LEAs now use the same web based computer system, Protocol. This does
mean that we all now have the facility to approve appropriate payments by
BACS. The actual payments are made by the SLC, but they have no input into
any decision making about how payments are made.
I wouldn't encourage students to contact the SLC about DSA. Their contact
centre (08456 077 577) should be able to tell them if a DSA payment has
been made, but that's about it at this stage.

Does anyone know how to get the Student Loans Company to pay independent
dyslexia tutors' fees under the DSA scheme directly into the bank
account by BACS?
After arguing for around 10 minutes the only response I could get was
"ask your LEA to pay them, we don't handle such funds"
