Sorry - to clarify - the majority of our training is carried out on campus,
but it is usually the case that the initial two or three sessions are
carried out in the student's home.
Once they are familiar with the setup of their own system, teaching on
programs such as Office, Insipiration, TextHELP, etc., takes place on
University machines. This does give the added advantage that students learn
how to log in to University accounts and access student email, etc.
Very often, if a student has a laptop, they will bring it with them for
training on the programs above.
The feedback we have had so far is quite positive. Having said that, we are
quite flexible on how tuition is carried out, and whether we make a home
visit, or the student comes to campus, is often decided by them.
We charge LEAs £40 per hour regardless of where training takes place. If
the student lives a long way from Swansea and wishes to have home tuition,
we would consider arranging this through the equipment suppliers, who
charge at a higher rate.
