A limited number of places are available on three short courses being
offered by the Centre for Access and Communication Studies at the
University of Bristol.
The courses are aimed at support workers seeking further professional
training, or at those who feel they would be interested in working with
disabled people in a support role and who would like to find out more about
specific areas.
These are three-day courses held in Bristol. Students may be residential
(fee £308) or non-residential (fee £251).
The courses are as follows:
1. 9-11 June 2004 - Working with People experiencing Mental or Emotional
Distress
2.19-21 July 2004 - Working with People with Autistic Spectrum Disorder
3.6-8 September 2004 - Working with People with Learning Disabilities
Each course aims to introduce participants to specific and appropriate
skills, knowledge and understanding required to act as an effective
Personal Support Worker/Personal Assistant with disabled people in
employment, but will also cover the principles and practice of support work
in education, leisure and domestic settings.
If you, or someone you know or work with would like further information
about any of the courses and/or a booking form, please contact Jo Frodsham
