Dear Terry,

My suggestion for carrying out training has meet with an excellent response, some 40+ individuals who wan't to learn about ergonomic assessments. I think it particularly important that this is done as the potential for litigation for wrongly recomended solutions is growing almost daily. Already I have heard of students claiming against universities for failure to support them in their disability.

Unfortunately I am not sure if a training event of this type will now come off as I have been asked to undertake ergonomic training internally; which I am happy to do, but only for employed assessors not freelance assessors. This seems to be a major sticking point at the moment. As I have explained to Judith I have spent a long time researching and developing the skills I have and I don't see why I should supply them free of charge to an someone who will exploit that for monetry gain. I have no problem with training freelance assessors as long as they pay the University the going rate for my expertise. As it is I think that a certain amount of favouratism is shown in that quarter and I have no wished to be exploited to benefit someone elses bank balance.

I will see you Friday for the review and training by EA.

Regards

Terry H

	Hi Terry

I would of course be interested in this proposed training event.

In view of the recent flurry of e-mails regarding the complexity and the potential for legal action of wrongly recommended ergonomic equipment assessments, it has been suggested that a sufficient number of assessors may be interested in undertaking specialist training in ergonomic assessments to make a detailed training course viable. If people are interested in undertaking such practical and theoretical training contributing to the certification of ergonomic assessors - (possibly a two day event) which would deal with seating (including specialist seating design and installation), support aids, desking, input options, lighting etc would they please e-mail me off list to:- [log in to unmask]

If required the course could cover assessments for both students in education and those in the workplace.

Additionally a range of support material (mind maps / distance learning material) could be made available in due course to those attending.

Subject to the response further details will be issued later, including possible locations, costs etc. .
