I agree with you Chris, we arrange mobility training and support on
campus to meet study requirements via DSA funding but not for shopping
etc. We have experienced difficulty in identifying trainer resources
though.

Dear colleagues
I am wanting to conduct something of a straw poll here, please feel free
to take part or ignore!
How many institutions disability support teams are undertaking general
mobility training with visually impaired students outside of study
requirements, i.e. fromt he students hall of residence to tesco's, the
train station, the pubs etc etc?
I am becoming alarmed at what I am told are an increasing number of
HEI's undertaking this specialists role. Having worked in an SS team for
visual impairemtn for five years I am still convinced it is SS's
responsiblity.
I'd be really interested to hear what everyone/anyone is doing.
Many thanks
Chris BAxter
