Still no guarantee that a cab will turn up on time though. Taking a wheelchair user means they have to get out the cab, put their gloves on, get ramps out the back and them put them away. The cabbies tend not to overly enthusiastic about taking the job when the call goes out on the radio. By the way, if an account is set up the call goes out to taxis over a wider area.

Subject: Taxis in London
Dear All,
I wonder if any of the London people can help with this one?
We have a student that needs to get to University by taxi, the cost of the journey would be about £15 each way. We are having awful trouble trying to find a company who will do this. The young man is a wheelchair user, so needs an accessible taxi.
We had one company, but they keep failing to turn up. The controller said that no one wants the job as its just not enough money.
We tried another who said the same thing, but said if they doubled the price of the job, we would definitely get someone, great.
Dial a ride don't want to do permanent jobs and our local community bus doesn't start operating until 9am which is the time this student needs to be at Uni, if he wants to get to his classes on time.
We are based in Ealing, if anyone can help out with this it would be much appreciated.
Regards
Pauline
