Mac's specifically:
ViaVoice is OK on the MAC, but not as good as Dragon Naturally Speaking on
the PC if speech recognition is the most important thing.
Geoff Best, our MAC expert writes:

The problem with older computers is more importantly the OS. If it's not
OS
10 then ViaVoice will not install - it also requires a minimum of 192Mb of
ram or else the installer will actually quit.
Our machines have been shipping with a minimum of 256Mb of ram ever since
I've been here (2+years) so that isn't of concern.
Even with the OS we wouldn't recommend installing ViaVoice on a machine
without at least OS 10.2 or else things will not run smoothly.
The age of the machine is fairly immaterial as long as the Mac has over
192Mb of ram and the required OS. The required OS can't be installed on
some
older machines so this wouldn't allow them to run VR software anyway.
It is always preferable to have the latest equipment - but bearing in mind
that ViaVoice hasn't been updated for 2 years it is only running better
due
to better hardware.
We have over the last year upgraded a couple of older systems - OS upgrade
£99, ViaVoice £76, Courier costs £45, Service fee £60 and possible ram
upgrades makes it a fairly expensive job in any case.
