Earlier Sony MDR's (even the one's *with* USB ports) will not allow you to
upload personal recordings using the Sony sonicstage software (for "copyright
issues"). The only method is headphone-out to line-in on the PC and use some
form of recording software (in real-time, i.e. very slow).
The newer HiMD Sony MDR's DO allow personal recording upload at USB speeds.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Minidiscs and sound files
I have been asked by a visually-impaired student whether it is
possible for him to load his recordings of lectures etc on to his PC. He has
a Sony minidisc recorder, which does not have a USB port.
Are minidisc reorders with USB ports available (as an upgrade
maybe?), or is there another way?
Any pointers would be welcome.
Thank you,
