Student Adviser (Disabilities), Learning Support

Location: Cambridge
Contract details: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: Scale 4, £19042 - £25560 p.a.
You will be primarily responsible for making arrangements to meet the
needs of students with disabilities, advising staff and students on
disability, and managing the Student Support Scheme (a team of learning
support assistants).
You will also have responsibility for general study skills materials
and one-to-one support.
You will be a graduate with at least 3 years experience as a
practitioner in the field of disability or study skills, preferably
within the HE or FE sector. Relevant professional qualifications are
desirable, as is a willingness to undertake further training.
You should be familiar with legislation and funding issues related to
students with disabilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal
skills are essential. IT proficiency is expected, and some knowledge of
adaptive technology is desirable. A commitment to equal opportunities
is necessary for this important role within an increasingly busy
service.
