I think that's a great idea John. I usually do a screening in the needs
assessment. If a student has an established preference, I suggest that they might
buy coloured paper with their allowance if they prefer.
I think it's important to note that not only the range of colours varies but
also the 'severity' of the effect. Students range from the 'oh, yes, Orange
does make it a bit clearer' to almost feinting at the sight of a page of small
print on white paper.
Some find the overlays a little helpful in extending their comfortable
reading time and a few "should never look at black on white if they want to stay
conscious".
