Although the grants are for physically disabled students, this is taken in the widest sense, eg students with mobility difficulties, sensory impairments, specific learning difficulties.

The Award Scheme provides grants of up to £2,000 p.a. for one or two years (£2,500 p.a. in exceptional circumstances) to physically disabled students studying in further and higher education or training within the UK. Awards are granted towards additional costs of studies such as sign language interpreters, notetakers, computers, carers, travel, wheelchairs and other disability-related equipment and service needs providing that funding is not available from statutory or other sources. Preferred age range: 17-25. Older applicants will be considered funds permitting. Main closing date each year for completed applications: 31 May, with an additional closing date of 31 August, funds permitting. An application form is available through the website or in printed, CD, tape or Braille format from the administrators at the postal address above.
