Bernard makes a good point. However, I am sure that in calculating the DSA
allowances DfES would say that an allowance is made for the cost of an
assessment. This is impossible to dispute as no one knows how the figures are arrived
at. A separate allowance for the cost of the assessment is unlikely and, as
this varies from assessor to assessor and, more importantly, from student to
student it is perhaps not desirable.
The fact is that the assessment cost affects the funding available to only a
very small minority of students and our efforts would be better directed at
trying to secure additional funding for these cases than arguing about
assessment costs.
