ERGONOMIC TRAINING
Following my earlier e-mail announcing planned training course in undertaking detailed ergonomic assessments I would like to notify all those that expressed an interest that due to a substantial interest it is intended that a series of two day training events will be undertaken later this year and early next year, in locations to cover the UK and Ireland avoiding excessive travel.
The events will probably be held in Hotels or Centres to allow some work to occur in the evening and to allow socialising for exchanges of ideas etc. A range of special equipment and seating will be on view and it is hoped to get some guest speakers from specialist charity groups to give short talks. The course will be a mix of talks and practical demonstrations and practical exercises.
On completion of the events the individual should have gained sufficient insight and practical understanding to allow them to undertake effective and accurate ergonomic assessments for both DSA and employment based reviews and to identify when special fitting services are required that can only be undertaken by specialists suppliers or specialist assessors. They should be able to measure and assess individual’s unique seating needs, identify seating and other ergonomic aids that would meet a range of needs and disabilities. They should also be able to prepare a detailed seating specification / build / modification instructions for suppliers to act upon based upon a measuements of the client and observations of their posture etc. The importance and demonstration of photographic evidence will also be evaluated in some depth.
We are currently looking at offering some form of accreditation with the course - more details will follow on this at a later stage.
The individuals who are likely to benefit are existing assessors with limited or no experience in ergonomics, Individuals with a professional need to be able undertake or oversee such assessments. A good understanding of the assessment process is required but no specific anatomical or clinical skills are required.
For further details or to register interest if not already registered please e mail me off list. Those that have already expressed an interest will be contacted individually when a schedule has been drawn up or more details are available.
