Although the student would not have needed support with these facilities at
home, in my experience this type of support is not considered academic
related, therefore not funded via DSA. The student should apply for support
through their home Social Services - unlike DSA, this type of funding is
means-tested.

Subject: DSA and internet shopping
Dear All,
I am sure that I have previously seen something on disforum about
students using DSA to pay for internet shopping when they have mobility
difficulties? The student also has trouble carrying his washing to and
from the laundrette - could a taxi to the laundrette be considered an
education related cost on the grounds that he is living in halls and
wouldn't have to meet this cost if living at home and not studying? Can
anyone provide a successful example?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Regards,
