There is another thought, though. This is very personal, but I find blasted
parents blasted videoing blasted children blasted annoying. Stopping it on
the grounds of good taste (they would not be allowed to do this in a concert
hall) strikes me as more relevant.

Subject: [data-protection] DP and School Concerts
Dear All,
I've just received word that a local school headmaster has stopped parents
from using videos or the taking of photos during the annual school concert.
He is doing this in line with the DP Act. Of course, parents were very
upset at this new measure. While I can understand that there may be a need
to ask the parent's consent for the school to publish photographs taken of
children for the school magazine ( and even here I am sceptical that the
whole issue is being blown out of all proportion), I think stopping parents
from using videos or taking of photos is going overboard with the whole
idea.
Am interested to know what is the practice in the UK.
