Hello List
We have had a few incidents lately involving a member of the public causing substantial damage to the council building. It has been suggested that for security reasons a photograph taken from CCTV footage of this person is posted onto the intranet (not website) warning staff about the potential dangers of associating with him.
This doesn't sit comfortably with me but I don't know whether there are any elements of data protection etc that should prevent this photograph and warning from being posted or whether it is the right thing to do.
Having read the CCTV Code of Practice, the answer to my query seems to relate to the purpose for which the original image was recorded. However even if staff security has been cited I'm not sure that I am happy for a not particularly clear photograph of the man to be distributed via the intranet! I have yet to see the accompanying text.
What do you think? Any comments would be useful.
Thank you very much
Rachel
