A few do-gooders and a handful of "false positives " might indeed raise objections. We may even accept this as a price worth paying.
However, this acceptance should not be used as an excuse to mitigate a lack of competence or due diligence on behalf of the CRB. Nor should it be a defence in a court of law if these failures lead to loss or distress.
If the price is truly worth paying, it should be paid in full, without delay and without quibbling. And without need for an individual with limited financial means to drag corporations and government departments through the courts to establish legal precedents and get justice.
Kind regards,
Bill Jackson

But aren't there some people who have proved their innocence and still can't
get their social work jobs back? Aren't there a number of people wrongly
convicted who will undoubtedly be unable to remove the mud sticking to them?
False negatives are very rare indeed, the majority of errors are false positives
and many people will be prepared to accept this position "to be on the safe
side" and only the wrongly accused and a few "do-gooders" :-) will raise
objections.
