As a colleague told me just a few days ago, if a solicitor fraudulently
asked for someone's data, they would get struck off, so I would think it
highly unlikely that they would do it, however the advice I gave was to get
the subjects consent anyway wherever possible, it covers all eventualities.

I'd be grateful for members' advice on the following:
If you receive a subject access request from a solicitor acting for a
data subject, would you still require proof that the data subject was
who they said they were or would you assume that the solicitor had
already done this.
Thanks
Nic Drew
