I seem to remember reading guidance that staff carrying out their
professional roles were not third parties. The guidance went on to
suggest that this also applied to professionals in associated
organisations and even those who received a fee for their opinion.

Tony's interpretation of the definition of a 'Third Party' is quite
correct and is as set out in S70 of the Act. However, in the context of
data subject access requests, S7 specifically refers to 'information
relating to another individual' and not to a 'Third Party', which would
suggest you do have to consider the rights of your employees and
employees of external organisations.
Given the potential seriousness of the situation, I would recommend that
you seek advice direct from the OIC or consult your legal advisers.

What if they are an employee of another organisation- but have provided
us with the information for our records? The information is not centered
about who said what, and is not changed by not having the names
included, the violence is very real and one member of our staff has
already been physically assaulted. I have included the information that
relates to internal staff but have given job titles rather then names.
The outside people who have provided the information are deeply worried
that providing the information will only increase the ferocity of the
attacks and baring in mind H&S i feel i have a duty to protect those
people who are acting under contract from further violence.
I m happy to give the information, I just don't feel that I would be
acting in anyones best interest if i gave out names.
Is this very wrong???
