I'm with you. I would treat any such calls with great suspicion. If I
wasn't expecting a call in response to an enquiry I had made I would not
disclose anything to anyone claiming to be from my bank. Nor would I
expect any bank to ask me to do it! Have you ever asked for the person's
details and checked back with the bank to ask if they had indeed initiated
the call?

Subject: [data-protection] banks
Dear All
I have been called by the marketing department of my bank before now and
been asked for
security questions. I suppose this is so if they manage to sell me holiday
insurance or
something they can take the payment from my account immediately
Although I don't mind these sorts of questions if I have initiated the
call, clearly if
my bank call me I have no way of verifying it is them so I naturally refuse
to answer
these type of questions. This has the added benefit of not being sold
stuff I do not
really need.
Is this because i am more suspicious than Tim ?
